Under Your Spell

I am scrapping a little out of order, but I just completed this page for Studio calico's Layout A Week #3 for November.  I lifted this design from Valerie.  I mostly used the Thespian add-on kit from Studio Calico (August), but I also used one sheet of paper from Glee Club, which was the main kit in August.

Using all of these products together was a real challenge for me.  I normally have a very plain style, sometimes called Clean and Simple.  This page is definitely neither!
I have been trying to teach myself to cluster page elements.  I see this on so many beautiful pages, and I really wanted to try it.  I probably should have chosen different background paper, but I think it does work.  If you have suggestions, or comments, I would welcome them!
I'm also trying to make sure to do some stamping with Ali Edwards' designs from Technique Tuesday on each page.  I have many Studio AE sets, and I truly love them!  On this page you see the Studio AE October 2011 stamps.  I stamped the words using Rusty Hinge Distress ink from Ranger, and Black from Close to My Heart.
Hope you enjoyed visiting, and have a great day!

December Daily Cover

So, I decided to do a December Daily Album, inspired by Ali Edwards, and a kit from Studio Calico.  A while back, I posted a question to the message board at SC, asking how others would cover their chipboard December Daily album from the kit.  There were some great ideas posted there.  Well, I finally got myself together, and began my cover.  The front, back, and inside are done, but I am waiting for my Studio AE and December Daily 2011 stamps to arrive from Technique Tuesday before I do the spine.  But for now, here is what I have:

The front cover (The back is the same.)

Close up of the cover.  You can see how the glitter sparkles, but what you can't really see is the very subtle sheen of the metallic paint that I painted the snowflakes with.  So pretty!

Here is the inside.  It will look a little different once I do the spine, but this is essentially how it will look.
I am now trying to decide whether to leave it at white and silver, or add some candy cane striped ribbon.  I will be stamping in red on the spine.  What are your thoughts?

Materials:December Daily kit: Studio Calico and Ali Edwards; Glossy Accents, Sticky Back Canvas, 12 x 12 in white, Adirondack Metallics Pearl Acrylic Paint Dabber, and Star Dust Stickles: Ranger; Folk Art Silver Anniversary acrylic paint: Plaid; Snowflakes template: The Crafter's Workshop.  Other: Paint brushes, T-square ruler, Scissors.

Hi everyone!  Guess what!  I made my first layout in probably 3 years!  I started  Project life in 2009, and basically abandoned my old way of scrapbooking.  I took Stacy Julian's Library of Memories this summer, and then I began to subscribe to Studio Calico.  Well, I am so glad I did!  I decided to try this week's Layout a week Challenge, and the assignment was to create a LO or card with a "gratitude" theme.  I made tons of mistakes, including getting ink on my photo.  But I am going to reprint and replace the photo, and call it good.  I used the Field Guide kit from Studio Calico, with a few Basic Grey Hopscotch brads, and the October Studio AE stamp set from Technique Tuesday.  Oh, and the design?  Shamelessly lifted from a template from Jessica Sprague.

I challenged myself to only use the kit, and stamps, and my "clean up" was SO much easier than when I used to take out everything I owned.
Forgot to mention that I also used My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose Doily stamps on my journaling block.
Also, my husband LOVES this layout.  I am thankful that I took the time to make it.
