Here they are!

One of the things I am challenging myself to do for the next few months (at least until the good weather comes) is to make all of the cards I give. So, yesterday and today are my SIL and nephew's birthdays, and these are the cards that I made for them.
First, this simple card on kraft paper was such a cinch to make! I copied it from one I saw in the January Cards magazine. My patterned paper was from DCWV Citrus, and I used the Thank You text cling stamp from Hero Arts to create the text paper. So little of it shows, that you could have used any text, including newsprint! I love the look of definition text, and I have both the Hero Arts Friend Definition and Thank You definition. I just don't think I could bring myself to rip up and old book just to get this effect. So, if you wanted to get a more "old book" feel, you could always use Ranger Distress Inks in Old Paper to add that to the edges of text paper. I am off subject. Sorry. The colored cardstock and baker's twine came from Martha Stewart, and the orange circle is actually cardstock inked with CTMH White Daisy and Hero Arts Graph Background. The stamp on the stars that peeks out from under the buttons is from CTMH, and so are the "happy" and "birthday" stamps. The buttons are from Basic Grey, and my stash. Oh, and those stich lines going through the stars and the circles? I did those with a black 0.3 Multiliner pen from Copic. Much easier that rethreading the machine!

The card for my SIL was really pushing the envelope of my comfort zone.
These are NOT colors I enjoy working with, but they are colors she loves, so I said to myself, why not see what you can do? I am happy with the way it turned out. I used a stamp from LCI, and that doily die-cut was made from a die from My Favorite Things. The patterned papers are from Kate Knight, and the text paper I created from a Hero Arts digital Friends Definition stamp (free from Two Peas in a Bucket!) I got my inspiration from last week's Finally Friday video on 2Peas with designer Kristina Werner. Ok, now the fun stuff. I colored the image with Copic Markers, used Distress Stickles and Dimensional Pearls from Ranger to highlight the image, and inked up my punched flowers with Pansy from Close-to-My Heart. Then I used Pebbles Shimmer Chalk to add a hint of sparkle to my die cut and the frosting. I also used Glassy Accents from CTMH and Enamel Accents from Ranger to bring shine to the cherry on top, and the little girl's eyes. Again, the stitch lines were made with a pen. My favorite white pen is from Signo. Hope you like it!
I am entering this card in LCI's Anything Goes Challenge this week. Why don't you play along, too? Check out their new stamp release by following along on the blog hop! For details, just click on the LCI Blog Hop banner on the left side of my blog!
