A Birthday Card and Wrap, and a Giveaway!

Happy Sunday!  First, I have a card to share with you.  My daughter has a birthday party to go to today, and she provided me with a little sketch of what style of card she wanted me to make for her friend.  It was a little more challenging than that, though, as she also specified which colors I was to use!  So, here is what I came up with:
The background is a cover-the-card stamp from Impression Obsession, and it is stamped in "Mowed Lawn" from the Tim Holtz line of Distress Inks from Ranger.  The flowers are white paper pressed into into "Squeezed Lemonade" Distress Ink.  I stamped the centers with Soft Canteloupe from Hero Arts, but it was very bright over the yellow, so I toned it down and added some sparkle with some sequins from Ellen Hutson and Studio Calico.  The leaves are green neon ink from Hero Arts, and The white ink is from Color Box.  The white gel pen is Signo, the blue jewels are from Doodlebug Designs, the ribbon is from American Crafts, and the wood veneer is from Studio Calico.

On the inside of the card, I used a Stamp from Simon Says Stamp, and Neon Green ink from Hero Arts.  Because my technique was a little poor, and I waited too long to stamp the sentiment, it came out a  little blotchy, so I decided to make some of the words a little clearer using my ATYOU Spica glitter pens.  Then I had to add a little blue inside, too, so I put glitter dots around the word Birthday!

I also created a little gift bag.  I love the look of the neon inks from Hero Arts on kraft.

My favorite part of this card is the sequins.  I never know what to do with them, and I finally used some!   In celebration, I am going to have a little give away.  Comment below, telling me your favorite thing to do with sequins by 10:00 pm EDS Tuesday, and I will choose 2 random commenters to receive a little bag of sequins from Studio Calico's Atlantic Line, and a few iridescent pink and vanilla sequins from Ellen Hutson.

I can't wait to hear your ideas!

  1. I love all the different greens on your card! As for sequins, I like to put them in the middle of camera stamps/graphics, where the lens is.

  2. Your card is adorable - love all the bright colors.

As you may have noticed, I am a sequin addict. I like to look at them, sort them, and scrap with them. I might need a 12 step program for my sequin obsession! :)

  3. I'm quickly falling in love with sequins... I used them for the very first time recently. I put a mix of them into one of the 3x4 pockets on my page protector and stitched across the top so they were loose on the inside. :)

  4. I like to use the sequins in Project Life.........take a couple and stitch them down!

  5. I like making pockets with them, too! My December Daily's cover was a big 6x6 pocket of red, green & white sequins. :)

  7. Love your card! It's so vibrant & happy! Ever since Studio Calico put sequins in their shop, I have been
smitten with them! I love to use a few of them in areas that I feel are a tad bit bare, just to add a touch of bling!
